Vocal Instruction
Vocal Lessons are given to help each singer achieve their musical goals through an emphasis on a combination of vocal techniques and artistry coaching.

• Proper phonation, vowel and consonant shaping
• Aural Skills to learn to sing by both listening and by note recognition.

• Authentic instruction for the style and genre of music

Participation in MAI recitals and performances is encouraged for all students and required for all scholarship students. College track student s are also required to participate in the Jury process at the end of each quarter. Progress reports are given for each college track student at the end of each quarter.

Percussion ( Drum ) Instruction
Lessons offered all percussion instruments, including drum set, marching band drums and toned percussion, are given to help each aspiring instrumentalist achieve their musical goals through an emphasis on a combination techniques, rhythmic accuracy and artistry coaching.

Music Theory, Composition and Production Instruction
Lessons offered in Theory, Composition and Production are given to help each aspiring musician achieve their musical goals through extensive knowledge of music nomenclature, song construction and form, the organization of generated sample sounds to create and express and artistry coaching.

• Learning to operate and navigate the latest and commonly used music software
including, Musition, Sibelius and Pro Tools
• Basic computer technology
• Note reading and recognition
• Aural Skills inclusive intervallic and harmony training
• How to build and arrange a music score and its instrumentation
• Basic uses of Pro Tools and its application in music production and song
composition
• Basic Piano Skills ​

In order to participate in MAI Theory, Composition and Production classes students must be enrolled in voice, instrument, or piano lessons or classes. Students should have a basic knowledge of music as a prerequisite for these classes. Progress reports are given for each college track student at the end of each quarter.
